“To have a society where the people from all walks of life, irrespective of social and economic, ethnic and cultural status, can enjoy a healthier, longer and happier life without falling prey to the epidemic of cardiovascular and other non-communicable diseases, by total care of heart and health in a holistic way through lifestyle enrichment, community-based adoption of heart-healthy measures and promotion of a cost-effective treatment strategy, in partnership with all stakeholders including Government and other organizations at state, national and international level.”

Our Five – Point Programmes
The activities of the Society that we have outlined are five-fold:
1. Health education programmes (APPLE) – in educational and other institutions
Health Education Programme – focussing on younger generation before the adverse life style factors and habits get entrenched in their life. The keywords in this programme are ‘Catch them young and Carry them through.’ This is conducted in schools and colleges under the name ‘APPLE’ – Active Programme Promoting Lifestyle Enrichment.
2. Public awareness programmes (HOPE) – in association with other NGOs
Health Enrichment Programme – This programme is named as HOPE – Heart Open Programme for Everyone. It attempts to create awareness about cardio-vascular diseases and method to prevent them through a structured, holistic approach.
3. Health check-up camps (ADAPT) – mostly for early detection of silent diseases
Health Check-up Programme – This is our ADAPT programme – Atherosclerotic Disease Assessment, Prevention and Treatment programme. It aims at detecting the cardiovascular diseases and co-morbid conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, lipid abnormalities etc. and giving guidance to stop and reverse the disease process. Appropriate treatment is also advised and provided for whenever necessary.
4. Academic and training programme (ENRICH) – doctors, nurses, paramedics etc.
Academic Programme – for training and education for preventive heart care. The Society arranges seminars for doctors, nurses and paramedics, first aid training, and publication of health bulletins etc. The programme is labelled as ENRICH – Education aNd Research In Cardiac Health.
5. Medical treatment and care to the needy persons (HEART-Net)
Medical treatment and care Programme – Our HEART- Net programme – Heart Care through Networking. We seek help from other NGOs, philanthropists, and agencies and also from Government in providing treatment and rehabilitation to needy patients.
The Society has traversed a long way in the last 25 years and will be celebrating Silver Jubilee in 2024-25 with a spirit of commitment and dedication in service to the people for the cause of heart and health care.
